E-book Pilates and Props: Magic Circle
The Magic Circle is available in various designs. It is always round (of course) and has two handles, but padding of the handles, construction material of the circle, resistance, size and weight vary greatly. The traditional Magic Circle
is a heavy, resistant prop, while later models are generally lighter and more flexible. In any case, it is a variable exercise tool, which is popular all over the world. It can be incorporated into Pilates Matwork lessons or used when
working with the Reformer. The Magic Circle can also be used in conjunction with all other small apparatus. The benefits of the exercise will be listed in this field. When the muscle actions (isometric, concentric and eccentric) are of relevance and/or can be described clearly, the description is listed in brackets and italics. After a muscle group is listed, specific muscles may be added in brackets. Note that they are not the only muscles involved, they are simply of particular relevance or focus. Some muscles might be listed in italics; this means that they are involved in the exercise, but have no particular focus.
